Amy and Peter Burrell married in 1723. They went on to have 6 children. Peter Burrell was a sub-governor of the South Sea Company and was also an MP for Haslemere and Dover.

Artist Allan Ramsey was very skilled at capturing the texture of fabrics and clothing as you can see in these two paintings.

Mrs Siddons in the character of “The Tragic Muse”, Mezzotint print made from the painting by Joshua Reynolds (1723 – 1792).

Perhaps the most famous actress of the 18th century, Sarah Siddons (1755-1831) came to Bath in 1778 to act at the Theatre Royal. By the 1780s Siddons had become the icon of Georgian England and was recorded in portraits by some of the country’s leading painters.
