Bath Preservation Trust’s four museums – No.1 Royal Crescent Museum, Beckford’s Tower, The Herschel Museum of Astronomy and the Museum of Bath Architecture – can all be hired for filming and photography purposes.

Each museum offers a different design and character, lending themselves to documentaries, dramas and blockbuster productions. Hirable in their entirety, you can film without risking visitors coming into shot.

Key Features and Available Spaces for Filming

No.1 Royal Crescent Museum

  • City-centre location at the end of the iconic Royal Crescent
  • Grand upper-class Georgian house, decorated in period style
  • All interior rooms (Kitchen, Servants’ Hall, Withdrawing Room, Dining Room, Lady’s Bedroom, Housekeeper’s Room, Gentleman’s Bedroom) can be filmed in
  • Exterior of No.1 (if you are seeking to film along the entire Royal Crescent please contact Bath Film Office).
  • Green room spaces and facilities also available

Beckford’s Tower

  • Rural location
  • Panoramic views of Bath and surrounding landscape
  • Unique gold-tipped Tower
  • Exterior (immediate garden surrounding Tower, wild meadow paddocks with views of Tower) can be filmed. We can also assist in seeking permission to film in Lansdown Cemetery from Walcot Parish.
  • Interior areas (157-step spiral staircase to the top, interior of Tower at top, exhibition rooms) can all be filmed in

The Herschel Museum of Astronomy

  • City-centre location
  • Middle-class Georgian house, decorated in period style
  • All interior rooms (Reception, Music Room, Dining Room, Workshop, Kitchen, Exhibition Room) can be filmed in
  • Garden to the rear of the museum

Museum of Bath Architecture

  • Atmospheric former chapel
  • Main interior spaces can be filmed in (museum downstairs and on upstairs balcony)
  • City-centre location
